Job Description
You will be required to:
Meet regularly to develop ICT skills.
Learn new skills independently through play.
Support teachers and other children who require ICT assistance.
Share what you know at staff meetings and parent meetings occasionally.
Ensure the ICT equipment is back in the correct place at the end of each day and charged/charging.

You will be required to:
Be enthusiastic and motivated!
Be prepared to lead projects.
Promote recycling and support all communities to manage their bins
Take care of the worms in the worm farm and compost bins
Be prepared to join the Enviro Group
Develop and maintain the gardens around the school
Model good sustainable habits and promote the rest of the local community to do the same
Represent Southbridge School at environmental and community events
Encourage as many people as possible to become involved
Promote the work of the Enviro Committee at assemblies, in newsletters and on the school news blog.

Library Committee

Job Description
You will be required to:
Promote reading throughout the school.
Help organise and run the annual Book Fair.
Spend some lunchtimes helping in the library.
Help classes choose books.
Help keep the library tidy and put books away.
Set a good example for others.
Assist with classes during mobile library days.

As you probably know Southbridge School had there ICT Expo on Tuesday. Many parents came and it was spectacular. Adults had lots of fun finding what their kids new about ICT. It was a awesome fabulous time and thank you to all the people who came we appreciate your time.

News:

Hi everyone. Tonight is the ICT expo. This is an opportunity for parents and children to come to school together. The children are showing their wonderful ICT learning to their parents. Please make sure that all children come! The times are as below:

5:30pm - 6:15pm Junior children are sharing their learning with their parents in communties 4-7.
6:15pm - 6:30pm Supper will be served in the hall for parents and children.
6:30pm - 7:15pm Senior children are sharing their learning with their parents in communities 1-3.

We expect all children to be here. Junior children should arrive from 5:20pm to get themselves set up. Please ring school and ask to speak to Denise or Wendy if you have any questions.

What we do on a wet day

When it starts to rain, the bell rings to come inside. We have a masot called Freddie and the children in Com 2 play with him if they’re extremely bored!!

When we come inside, we play a math’s game or a reading game.

A monitor comes in from Com 1 to check if there is any bad behavior and to look after us.

If it stops raining everyone will go outside and carry on with their games.
When the monitors ask us down to the mat to play a game the children don’t argue with the monitors.

That’s what Com 2 does on a wet day.

The Sports Shed

Playtime in the sport shed!!!

The sport shed is where people get sport equipment out to play with at playtimes.
Every morning tea and lunch time two year 5’s from com 2 give up some of their play time to be on sport shed. We have a roster to tell us when we’re on sport shed.
The sport shed is quite small. If you want to get things out you need a sport shed card. A sport shed card has your name and picture on it.
The sport shed is next com7 in the junior block at Southbridge School. If you lose the equipment that you get out you lose your card for a week.
Please look after all the gear and try not to pop it. Com 2 would love to use the sport’s gear. Just remember don’t fit with the monitors. Have a great time!!!

Com 2: How we work!

In nz there is a little town called Southbridge. It has a school there and it is cool. The year 5 class is also called com2 and our teacher is Miss Stanley.

Com2 is a kind and caring class and we work super hard. We work together and our teacher tells us how things work.

We are super good at our times tables especially our 3’s and our 5’s. We like reading cool books, so our teacher gives us books to take home.

Com2 loves the out doors.

What happens in the sport shed?

The sport shed is a shed where all the sports gear is stored and is kept safe.

Com 2 has a chart that tells us who is on sport shed duty every day of the week. The class loves being on sport shed duty. If you don’t return your gear, you loose your sport shed card until you find it. If you have no sport shed card, there is a chart that will have your name on it.

All these things together equal a normal day in the sport shed.

Sending Our Love to Christchurch

The Earthquake last Tuesday was a very scary time for us all and one we know we will not forget. We decided as a school to take part in 'Purple Cake Day' yesterday to gather non perishable goods for the people in need in our city.

We gathered as a school by the flagpole for 2 minutes silence to remember the day and to pay tribute to all those who have lost loved ones or who are experiencing hardship.
We made a card to go to Christchurch sending all our thoughts and love to those in need.

On Monday we made "Thank You" cards to people that we think need some recognition at the moment. These went to Mums and Dads, Brothers, Sisters, Teachers, Rescue Workers and many, many more special people.

Community Two!

In Com 2 we have a crazy but cool teacher and her name is Miss Stanley. We have crazy but funky ladies in Com 2 and we have energetic boys. We also have a crazy mascot who swam from Hawaii called Freddie McFurry. (He is the monkey you can see above). Anyway...In Com 2 we are fun and excited about being real Seniors!! You can come and visit any time and there will be lots and lots of pictures and samples of our work to see. We will also keep you up to date with our cheeky monkey, Freddie.

Com 2 is like a PUZZLE.....

We each chose a puzzle piece to design using our three favourite colours. We wrote our name on the puzzle piece and decorated it using designs which represented us as individuals. We then put all the puzzle pieces together on the wall to make one big puzzle.

This shows that whilst we all are different....we fit together perfectly.

Community Two is going to be a great team!!!!!
